THE ongoing Dar es Salaam Volleyball League and College Leagues will not be staged this weekend, to pave way for Inter- Secondary School Games, UMISSETA.Instead, the long-run league, which is organised by Dar es Salaam Region Volleyball Association (DAREVA), will resume next weekend. The leagues are held every weekend, but the organisers say will not continue this weekend as planned as most officials and players are also engaged in the UMISSETA event.DAREVA Acting Technical Committee Chairman, Nyange Mtoro confirmed to the ‘Sunday News’ in the city yesterday that this weekend matches will not be played as earlier planned. He said that his association will not be able to continue with both leagues as facilities and several officials are assigned at UMISSETA Games.
“DAREVA officials including referees who officiate leagues will not be available as well as facilities which went to support school games,” he said. Mtoro apologized for any convenience caused by the postponement.
This is the second time the matches are postponed since the league started in April this year. Last month, the league was also postponed for a week to give room for Muungano League organised by Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA).
The tournament that was held in Zanzibar saw Jeshi Stars men and women clinching titles in their respective categories.
